Where do you 'wear' your guitar?

I walk the line
Jimmy Page 'knee-length', or George Harrison 'armpit-height'?

I'm assuming somewhere in between, but I got curious. I rarely play standing up anymore, and when I do, I find it hard to find a comfortable spot that feels natural.

It depends a lot on the type of guitar, too. I wish I could do the Page thing (looks cool), but I guess my arms are too short. :(

Right up to my neck! Don't play jazz stuff but it helps with tapping and a few certain riffs. Also makes it feel like I'm not even supporting the weight of an LP and takes a lot of strain off my back in those 6 hour practices (every practice).

Edit: Well, not right up to my neck. Top of the guitar is about at my chest, but it's still fairly high compared to most players.

A little bit higher then jimmy page knee length. Jimmy page with a little george harrison class.

i wear it pretty low. not like Billy Joe Armstrong low, but my arms are pretty extended when i'm downpicking. i play my bass pretty low also. but acoustic i like it up higher.

I like it pretty high, easier to play for me. The bottom of my guitar (Ibanez RG) is right about at my belt.

using belt level for reference, i'd say that the strings of the guitar line up with my belt. but if i'm playing some more complicated parts, i'll lean back a little so the guitar kinda rests on my upper thigh and tilts upward, and it makes it easier for me. looks kinda cheesy though, haha. :o

This gets my vote. Lean back for the 80s power solo!!

I used to play

at belt height too, but what was once concave is now convex. :(

Interesting how many play it up, though.

Do you find you play different types at different heights? Do you play a strat and an LP at the same place?

i wear it low. strings at belt height. i wish i could do what slash does, his is wicked low but he lifts it up, and it looks so cool. i ve never tried it though, so maybe i will.

i've found that you can wrap the cucumber in wax paper instead of foil, that way it's easier to get past airport security.

I like it pretty high. Above my belt a little, meaning that the bottom of the guitar is just above my belt line. It's impossible for me to finger some things without the guitar up high. Being able to play anything I want easily is alot more important to me than looking cool, besides I think people look cool wearing it high. ;)

I like it a little lower when I'm playing alot of agressive rhythm for long periods. My picking arm elbow will tense up a little if I don't keep my arm a little straighter....but I'm talking about really agressive picking. When I was playing metal live it was sort of a compromise.

I also have to have a guitar that hangs right - with the neck pointing up. That's why I've gotten rid of all my uncomfortable guitars over the years and stick with Jackson Soloists / Strat style bodies.

I've found that one of the reasons

I've avoided LPs has been because I always play sitting, and to me a Paul doesn't balance well at all seated.

I always wear mine with the strings right above belt level. Yes it does put more strain on my wrists when I play in 1st position, but its purely for asthetics. I dunno why either because I dont play out anymore.

I set the strap height to the same level as it rests on my leg, when i'm sitting. (I sit down in the position I practice, set the strap length,.. when
I stand its in the same position.)

No point practicing for hours and when getting on stage having the guitar
in a different place...

I would say I wear mine as low as Jimmy Page, the top of the guitar body is at my belt buckle. I have long arms and it makes it the most comfortable for me-the only instrument I wear high is a mandolin.
