I'm new to this and I am expirimenting with ACID Pro...Where do you get your beats and loops? I have been looking at SF site do you all pay for loop cd's or create your from scratch. I dont own a beat machine and probably wont get one either. I mostly record rock but I'm wanting to expiriment with different types of music...just wandering.

Digging is the best way... Wax or E-digging...

Really time consuming finding tight loops... I use a few sample disks myself but you can find a bunch of loops on the web... If you are gonna go the web route I suggest you take a day or two and just hunt for loops until your brain hurts. Get em all nice and named and organized. Then use ACID, Sound Forge, Cool Edit, Recycle, or it's some free programs (don't remember the names) to chop those loops up in to variations of the loops you got. Then you'll have plenty to play with.

Is a good place to start and if you follow the links you should find shitloads of loops. Just make a few wave cd's to load from when you find enough stuff.

Might even hit the library for some high speed access if you don't have it. It'll make things go faster on the download side.

Also there are a few programs like HAMMERHEAD (http://www.threechords.com/hammerhead/) that can act as drum machines. You can use samples to build you own loops from scratch and save them to wave files.

Peace.
