Whats up,
I have a very basic set up. I am using a:
Behringer C1 (Condenser microphone)
Alesis Multimix 4

I have been recording around and looking about in an attempt to get a better sound. My vocal tracks are not coming out with that clarity you see in your average song or even vocal cover. I have seen people with worse microphones get a better sound as well.
What do?:(

Additional info:
Using Acid pro 7

Get yourself 10 posts (HERE) so that you can place links in your thread. Then post a sample of what you are recording. Not possible to give any opinion without hearing what you have recorded.

I would move to a dynamic mic or control the noise in the room. That is a bunch of noise in the background. A condenser is a bad choice in that type of environment.

...or move the computer out of your room. Then you only have HVAC noise to deal with.

Also, setting everything to zero isn't the right answer. You set the gains to where they need to be. You should learn about gain staging.

Should I keep this microphone or ebay it?

Work with and learn to control the noise in your room first. But yeah, I would lose the C1 myself. What is it you plan to record and why?

I plan to record vocals (clean and screaming) which is why I went with a condenser before a dynamic.
I want to continue to improve my set up whenever I can and eventually be able to record my flute as well.

Condenser mics are best in a treated/quiet room. Not necessarily the best for vocals. Definitely not a good choice for a noisy room.

Thanks man, I will see what I can do :D
