I need to be able to switch between sets of monitors, or send my RCA outs from the board to different destinations.

Tried Radio Shack, they said they didn't have one. Gonna try Circuit City, but I think I'm barking up the wrong tree.

Try a different Radio Shack store. I know they have one. I think they call it an A/V switch box. You should check in the Home Theater department.

Aren,

Even better, go to www.radioshack.com where you can search for everything they carry. Recently I needed a special 1/4-inch audio adapter that none of the local stores had, and I found it quickly at their web site and had it a few days later.

I've bought two of these boxes at Radio Shack - they do caryy them.

I have tried Radio shack and their site

But I may be surfing or asking for the wrong item.

Mike, what is the thing you bought called?

here's what I found on radioshack.com

40-244

40-240

is that close to what you're looking for?
I know markertek has these too ... but I can't find them without the catalog. :(

Kind of, but I need it to be RCA jack ins and outs. I think those are for bare wire (as it says: "Accepts up to 14 gauge wire.")

I need L& R inputs and 2-4 sets of L&R outputs with a switch.

The call them "Speaker A/B Switches" or something along those lines.

Looks like a possiblity

Wish you could see the back of the damn thing.
What a crappy website they have.

David B - I was incorrect when I said I bought switchers with RCA - after looking at the Radio Shack units they only accept speaker wire (not RCA jacks).

I have not used these boxes for a while and I got confused (too much gear to keep track of).

Sorry for the wrong info - Good luck in your search.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm...........

Am I just missing something or is there a reason why you can't use the bare wire ones?!

Just snip off the RCAs at one end, right?

I gotta be missing something here........

@ Radio shack:
its called a stereo audio source selector, the the catalog # stamped on the bottom is 40-2112
on the back is 3 sets of stereo rca ins, and 1 set of stereo outs.
the front has 3 push button switches.
Ive bought a couple, & they work both ways, i.e you can hook up 3 sources IN & select 1 out, OR, you can hook upon one IN & select between 3 outs, kinda useful

I had to build my own on doing a similar thing. Then I ended up just buying a cheap mixer.

heylow, I agree that you can cut off the RCA jacks and use the bare wire - I just assumed David B did not want to go that route

Right Mike,

I figured that too but sometimes things are just easier done other ways. i'm just saying that's what I'd do...unless I'm totally ignorant to something else in the equation here. Personally, I think I'd like the bare wire connection BETTER than RCA for no other reason than RCA just always seems so....just "adequate" at best.
