Where Can I Find...

Hey everyone, i was wondering if anybody knew where i could find a site that can show me wat a basic recording contract looks like. I know all contracts differ from person to person but there has got to be a basic contract which when taken can be changed on the fly.

I am also highly interested in that topic. Any help is much appreciated. What a contract looks like, how a contract deal should be settled, i mean what precautions a new artist should take etc. What kind of lawyer you should look for and generally what they charge --etc

Well, I could dig out my old contract somewhere, but it's quite a stack of paper and I'm not about to scan it all. Besides, after page 2 you'd have your head spinning in legal terms (unless you're a lawyer, of course).
I'd recommend getting Donald Passman's book about the music business ("Everything you need to know about the music business", I think). Buy it or get it from the library, it should explain enough to you that you can understand the concepts involved in a recording contract.
