Particularly one made by Webster Chicago - Model 30-1 made in the 40's. :confused:

Check out the splicing technique. Looks like tying a fishing line.

You forget that a wire loop on your real can easily drop down over another loop and cause the wire to block or even break. One way to avoid that (in part) is to put the recorder vertically (or almost) so that gravity has almnost no effect on the upper loops, which won't fall down.

My oldest wire recorder so far is a 1907 Poulsen made by the Americam Telegraphone Company. I'm looking for a Record-O-Phone but I can keep dreaming...
