i want to get the full drum tracks to some Metallica songs off of their 'And Justice For All' album so that I can play along on my guitar. i just want the drums. nothing else. does anybody know where to find them?

I dont think your going to find that anywhere. Why not just paly along to the songs. Seems to be easier that way...and funner.

If you don't mind a little bit of a cheesiness factor, pretty much every song ever wrote is out there in a MIDI version. Do a search online. Then just load it into a MIDI editor and mute everything but the drums.

Be warned that some sound ultra cheesy and some are quite good. The quality of the sounds will also depend on your sound card and what kind of sound module it has built in.

Good luck.

I have a tonnes of those Metallica midi files, I got them
off a cd rom called rom man technologies sound II.
theres ALOT of metallica midi files on that and alot of cool
other ones too. If there is anyway I can e-mail them
to you let me know, I dont know if you can actually
e-mail a midi file as you can tell Im not a computer genius,
so if there is a way tell me how to do so and I will
be glad to.

hmm. i'm not sure how to use a midi file. can they be converted to wave (.wav) or mp3 files? if not, can the cd-rom be burned?

You can use cakewalk to play your midi's. In cakewalk
it gives you the ability to mute all the midi guitars
and other cheesy midi stuff and just have the drums
to play along with. If you have a decent sound card
midi files can be actually pretty fun to jam along with.

oh ya....

If you don't have cakewalk, you can play a midi file through
windows media player but you wont be able to edit it.

i have cakewalk, but when i start it up this box pops up:

if i click on the button to 'Choose MIDI Outputs Now...' , i then get this:

i try to select the 'Microsoft MIDI Mapper' but it doesn't work.

so, i'm not sure, but i don't think i can play MIDI files... or can I?

It looks like cakewalk is not noticing your sound card.
You should take a look in the "help menu" to see
if you can find some help there. But im pretty sure
it has somthing to do with your sound card.
what kind of sound card do you have??
