Please let me know what you think. Pay particular attention to the bass if you would. See if you think it's sitting right.

Wow, great campy Hermin's Hermits style and super vocals. What the fuck was she singing? Sorry, you cloned the track and did some delay that made it absolute gibberish.

Wow, I wanted to get on this train and enjoy what's going on. I guess I'm just a dumb ole yank. Can't understand a thing you are singing. My loss, not yours, cheerio, Bob's your uncle. Cor bloody awful, I am, I'm sure.

Nice job. This sounds really good. The bass sounds fine.

My only complaint is that the one guitar part is panned very far left. It's almost impossible to hear in the right channel. It's a personal preference, I suppose, but I'm not a fan panning any instrument exclusively to one side since I only wear one headphone half the time.

Bass sounds "a little" muddy (lack of a better word) on a frequencie that is hard to identify.Maybe lacking some mids, or even overcompressed...In truth, could be better matched with BD.
Nothing really bad, I´m just trying to focused in your question.

Overall mix sounds good.Vox sounds good too(tone/recording),with some tunning issues (performance).
Some gain on mids and higs could work on the whole mix for more presence (vox, guitars and drums) but is my personal taste.

Oh, I completely love this song! Ehm...usually I try to avoid namedropping but right now I can´t help myself: This song sounds like the lovechild of a hot Belle & Sebastian and Yo La Tengo relationship. I don´t have anything bad to say about this song. The bass seems just right, the vocals are fine with me and the refrain keeps circling in my head already. Yep, this earns a place on my harddisc-drive!

I'll check the mudrange on the bass. I caught a pitch issue in the first chorus on one of the lead tracks, so I copied a track from the second chorus. So I assume the issue you're hearing is in the first chorus. I'll give it another listen and maybe do some more surgery.

great mix only one niggle the panning youve got IMHO not enough going in the right channel i keep wanting to tilt my head, maybe have a counter melody on the electric guitar just to balance it out other than that it's great

Good song. On my system, the vocals could be a little louder. The song is pure melody, let's hear it. The rhythm guitar could come down a bit too. Good vibe to the song, me likey.

Lead vocals are always hard to get just right. I have such a trebly voice to begin with, I want to set the vox as low as I can yet still be heard. I'll give the mix another check. Thanks.

What strikes me, bud ... is that it's a bit too flat in space ... pressed a bit too much like processed food ... sonic luncheon meat ... so to speak.

Sure ... there's flavor, but it's a bit lacking in organics.

You and I know that it's easy to produce canned nutrition via compression control, and we both struggle w/ that occasionally -- it makes it easy on the mixer.

But this is all 2 much 2D ... and I think that may bother you too. It's a collage pressed against the glass ... pretty colors but lacking in depth -- uniform in presentation ... nothing too up ... nothing too down. Nothing too back, everything up close and personal.

Music breathes ... this ... my friend, is a shallow breather.

Add the back of the room ... and then it'll agree better. It's in the subtly of the comments above ... the side clues (can't hear the words etc ...) reveal the core thread ...

One cannot "distinguish" when ... you know ... (it's all at the same ...)

Space is detail.

Uh, yeah...

Put this on CD, put it in your home stereo, crank it to a modest level (like you would have music as a 'background' at a quiet party) and then go to the back of the room and give it a listen. I think you might find these comments are on.

It's a good song, nicely performed (except for the above mentioned items), but the mix is a bit lacking. I can't find another word for it.

As far as the 'muddiness' and 'spacial' comments above....I just can't trust the MP3 format (nor my PC speakers) enough to comment on the actual sound quality, but the music quality was schaweeet.

Dub, Rokket, and spitman

You've hit on what was bugging me. It's lack of depth. Dub you know that I can get depth to my mixes. But for some reason I haven't figured out yet, the same methods I've used to get depth just aren't working on this one.

I'll have to sit back down, tear it apart, and figure out why.

Listening your mix again, my guess is that many issues are related to some boominess on bass guitar
Try cutting 125hz (bass "problem") and some gain on frequencies below, let me see what you think about that.
And boosting mids a bit.
Maybe I´m wrong, I´m the only one who heard it...

I think you're right on the bass boomies. I think I actually have a small boost at around 125K so that it would sit better with the kick (I haven't looked for a while so I can't be sure). But I think now that it would sit fine with the kick anyway. So I'll probably be taking it out.
