I think the vox could be a little more up front in the mix, and perhaps the harmony vox backed off a little

Which part do you precieve as being the harmony?
The high or Low vox?

Thanks man.
Theyre all real drums.
No fakes here.

-Finster

well then you certainly know the craftmanship of recording drums :)

More guitars.....my only thought. Don't know if that would really muddy the mix up, but a tune like this begs for more guitar noise. I do like the way it flows, and changing the guitars could muck it up. Personal preferance thingy here. When the drums are moving really fast, they seem to lose some depth....seem a bit subdued in their sound. Don't know if this could even be changed, as the dude is playing so fast.....
Cool tune, Chris. Thanks for posting it.

This is a great tune, -X! You continue to amaze me with your songs as well as your production skills. The drums are real, but is the person playing them? Man, fast feets!!!!!

My only real complaint with those guys is that they walk a fine line between jam band and prog. The material is really good IMHO but they have a tendency to ramble at times.

wow.....sounds like the same comments i'd make about Ozric Tenticles. Anyone here ever heard of those guys? i keep missing them when they make it to this side of the pond.

finster, keep up the good work!

cheers,

Wicked track. Love the drums. Your drummer must have thighs like a powerlifter. Have to say though that I noticed a couple of glitches in there. Particularly at the beginning 1:29 and just as the song is ending. These of course may be due to the web or mp3 conversion but I just thought I'd point it out just in case. Other than that, awesome tune. The world needs a few bands like this to wake up the industry a bit. I'm a little sick of the prefab crap on the radio. Awesome work.

I couldnt agree more my man.

Ill post a version with bass here in a few.

Thanks to everybody for the helpful comments!

Sweet when you get it released you will have to let us know how it does with the fans.

Ten characters for high.

Ok in that case id agree.
Ill be posting the new version when i return from cali.

Also if i put this up as the PMC 12....would a track count of 62 be too high for everyone?

Or would that be acceptable?

Lemme know.

-Finster

That you singing Finster?
Kinda Maynard Keaton singing style which is cool.
I know you said the bass is only a scratch bass so I hope to hear more bass guitar when you record it properly and maybe a tad more lo end on the guitars.

Real nice mix though.

Ed

Well, Adobe Audition does say up to 128 tracks....so it might actually work on my pc. That would be scary. I wouldn't know what to do with that many. Guess it could be fun.

Meh its nothin man!
Its simply layers.

Like 8 guitar parts.
10 vox.
14 drums.
etc...

Theyre all playing the exact same thing (or slight variations).
So it isnt hard to get a good sound.

The track that you are hearing on this thread has no processing AT ALL (plug-ins, outboard etc)!!

i just put the faders up, and did some automation.

Layers are easy to mix.

Its frequency blending that is a pain in the ass ;) :D .

That would be cool as hell. I'd love to take a swing at it...even though I probably couldn't do it justice. :D

Well, you know I'm in, no matter what. And If I wreck your tune....OOpppss... :D

Now thats impressive. But how did you control the vox without compression? Did you automate the volume? that would take ages!!

Im a consistent singer for one, my volumes are quite even.

Thats 95% of the battle right there.
