When I'm gone

I think the song is really good, not my particular cup of tea but on it's own merit it's really good. I like the sound of everything but I don't get the intro. The guitar on the intro sounds fine but the whole part sounds completely detached from the rest of the track, in my opinion.

Mix sounds good here. The vocals sounds really good. :thumbs up:

Nice tune. I think the intro guitars sound fine, I think the way it moves in the the main song is the problem. Just a suggestion, but as the intro goes into the main part, sustain the last as it fades, bring in some light, build up cymbals and then kick in. I think it would tie it in better.

I liked it. Dark and full. Nice tune and mix.

I think I know what you mean DM. Let those last couple notes hold out and fade them out and fade in some of the highs from guitar/drums/etc.

I'll have to give that a try

The intro guitar transition is indeed a clusterfuck. That's gotta be fixed.

The mix seems a little overcooked to me. It's very separated and modern, but seems a little harsh to me. It's probably the vocal compression and loudness limiting doing it. Love the bass tone. The drums sound very fake. That snare needs some fat and body to it. But overall it's not terrible.

Very big and commercial sounding. I got some compression artifacts in WMP, which is sensitive to that stuff. I also thought the bgvs were a touch high... Other than that, it sounded pretty true to the genre for me.

The drums are fake. Not really sure what to about that besides track real drums. Definitely going for a modern sound but the harshness shouldn't be there. I'll see what I can figure out there.

I'll look over the compression again and see what we can do. This is being mixed on his rig instead of mine. Running PT8 and I'm not very familiar with it all.

Thanks to everyone for the comments/tips. I'll keep working on this one and hopefully the next one will be better.

Couple of glitches here and there. The recording sounds great to me, sounds very big and modern. Its so big and loud you could afford to back down your brickwall limiter and still sound awesome. One thing about pushing a master, is that even if it stays relatively clean the highs do tend to get harsh.

Overall sounds great!

Whoa really cool beginning.

Sounds kind of like Breaking Benjamin or City Sleeps. Very creepy voice. It's perfect. You have some really good EQ or FX on the vocals, emphasizing something deep and bringing out the fry really well. What is that?

Love what you are saying.

If I had to critique something, I would say that it's missing a certain punch or violent frenzy that many songs in this genre have. Like, it sounded almost mellow and sweet instead of heavy and conflictive. If that's what you were going for, great job!

I really do like the concept that it's better when I'm gone.

JJ.

Nothing overly crazy on the vocals. A couple different compressors, reverb, and a few different eqs
