I'm new to this MIDI universe, so bear with me. I have my keyboard & drum machine MIDIed together in series, as I"ve been instructed. The keyboard sounds are fine, however when I record a drum track off the machine, it plays back on channel 10 through the keyboard, and loses it's original sound in the process.
I just want the original "machine" drums, not the new-and-not-so-improved "keyboard" drums.
Any suggestions?

Yeah -- have the keyboard set to respond on other channels but not ten, and vice versa for the drum machine. Route the appropriate MIDI tracks to the appropriate MIDI channels.

That reminds me of a show I saw on Discovery last week: "When Drum Machines Attack!"

excerpt of the Aussie commentator:

".....'ere he comes now. Slowly making 'is way up to the water hole. 'e looks around coverin' 'is backside, sees his mates creepin' up to the hole beside 'im. These are young midi tracks getting their first experiences without .....what this? Their ears are perked..they hear somethin' in the bushes behind 'em. My gawd, it's a spotted ringo! Don't see many of these ravenous drum machines on the prowel in day light in these parts! What a rare treat folks and I think...wait now...they don't see 'im. He's circling around now, less than a stone's throw he is. The one little bugger sees 'im... Ahhh! Too late! The ringo's got two of 'em in 'is jaws!"
