sounds kinda elementary....but I am very "picky" about what I use. Dunlop nylon .60. I have a tendency to hold my pick kind of loose, and the raised lettering on the pick gives me that grip I need. I've been wanting to try the Everly star pick, but just have'nt seen them anywhere on the shelf. Anyone else have an opinion?

ooops!

gotta read these things better....

I use Fender mediums....sometimes hards for stumming.....

I use my fingers, but I do use a pick now and then. I use a fender heavy. Its one of those big triangle ones. I figure my strings will eat anything smaller. I saw online this "bass" pick that was made out of rubber that sounded like fingers playing instead of picks, anyone know anything about those?

freak

I'm a bass player and use my fingers. But when I play guit, Dunlop .60mm. I have yet to use anything better.

For electric guitar I used to use the orange Tortecs for years when I was playing out a lot. I orefer a heavier pick but I have a heavy right hand and broke a lot of strings and they helped slow that down. Lately I've been using these PickBoy picks. They're black hard plastic about 1mm. Things like pinch harmonics are a lot easier to hit with these for me. The down side is, I'm breakin strings again.
Acoustic guitar, for finger picking I like the National finger picks and a Dunlop thumb pick. For flat picking again I like the orange Tortecs.
Bass I like the Black nylon 1mm Dunlops.

it changes alot

mostly the dunlop gator grips or orange tortecs and i like th fender mediums but they have to be th pealoid looking kind with grey and blue .....i have used th copperpicks they have a wicked sound but they're hell on your strings

I like any generic I guess celluloid pick/medium for electric and a light of the same brand for acoustic.

I'm a fingerstyle guy and I can get a good percussive pick sound strumming by using the back of my nails. For a light percussive strum, I like a really thin pick. I'm not brand specific. But I lean towards Tortex. I do like the dunlop nylons though.

On the electric I like the red Tortex.

For electric - .73mm Dunlop nylon...
For acoustic - .46 Dunlops

I never use anything else.... (when you find something that works, yadda-yadda...!) ;)

Now using mostly the JD nylon 0.60

Used to use the JD nylon 0.46 - because often when playing live I would scrub a little hard, breaking a lot of strings. I wanted to lighten my touch. After years of this, I finally tired of not having any ability to 'bite' harder with the pick when I wanted to.

Went back to the 0.60

Recently bought a brass ProPick. Surprisingly it has a mellower tone, and sounds cool for bluesy stuff on my semi-hollow axe.

When sliding, I use the pick and fingers technique - wish I was better at muting the strings I want!

Happy Picking!

I use National thumb picks for guitar and bass. Just never learned to use a regular pick.

I dont use picks now, but when I was a staffer at times the piece I would have to play on would require a pick, then it would only be a Fender medium.

I vote for Fender Mediums. Because....

1. I'm used to them;
2. It makes life that much simpler when moving from guitar to guitar;
3. Just about all music stores carry them and they come in bulk.

I vote for fingers when....

1. I'm using my clasical
2. I'm using my bass

I vote for my thumb when....

1. I'm jamm'n on my jaw harp :D

Off topic, but fun thing to do with the Jaw Harp:

1. Come to bed after your wife has already gone to bed and turned off the lights...
2. Complain about something in your teeth...
3. Make some moaning noises like you're trying to get a popcorn kernal out or something...
4. Hit the harp and breath a sigh of relief
5. Enjoy life

I like to lay talking and tell mine "I`m gonna spit straight up!" when she snatches the covers over her head I let that gas bomb fly..

:)

I use Dunlop Tortex Black Gold Jazz picks, ( http://www.jimdunlop.com/picks/tortex.html ) they're about 2/3 the size of normal tortex picks, with a sharp point. I use .73, .88, and 1.0 at random, whichever I pick out of my pick jar.

All my local music stores stopped carrying them long ago, so I ordered a couple of packs (72 picks per pack) straight from Dunlop, and now I have a nice cup full o' picks...

Fender medium.

I used Dunlop nylons before, until I found out that they added to my many broken strings because of the sharp edges and raised lettering. It felt like it "caught" the strings much easier. Then I switched back to Fender, and didn't break any strings since.
