thansk

That's only a grounding problem.

There is no harm done to your bass. It's normal with every guitar.

You can ground it yourself if you know how to, or you can send it to the repair shop.

You have to soder the grounding wire correctly.

could also be interference from your monitor or other devices. Try backing away from the computer

Is it humming anything we know or is it just droning on one note?

yeah most of them hum to some degree. Other appliances in the same circuit will affect that too. If the ol fridge is churning or AC is running for example. Those bad boys hog alot of juice. Try swapping to different outlets, make sure the one you are using is grounded. Play faster so your fingers never leave the strings.

hummer..

its actually humming in one note.. over and over.. however it would be nice if it did hum to some sort of tune.. then at shows i could just stand there and make sure my fingers dont touch the strings, can anybody help me with this?

Agreed, it's grounding, but it may also be the equipment your pluging into as well, such as your amp. If it ain't grounded then grounding the gitter ain't gonna help much!

Make sure that you are not plugged into a circuit with a light dimmer too.

They make noiseless models, but the majority are not that type.
