I have the DXC1e also and I really love it. I couldn't care less if it is plastic or not. It sounds great, nice and full with a sweet high end. It does have one small buzz problem at the nut on the high E that I will have to get fixed. Most everyday, I take it from my cooled studio to the front porch in this texas heat and I don't have to fuss with it much.
I played a lot of acoustics on many trips to the store before buying this one (it was a toss-up with a Taylor).
Yeah i was really surprised to see it's not made from real wood. But btw, HPL is made from wood pulp, not plastic. So it technically is made out of wood, it's just not real wood hahaha.

Obviously you don't know muttley. Yeah, he's a little prickly but ill-informed he is not.

I'll grant you, he IS a bit short sometimes but he knows his shit as well or better than about anyone around.
It's a timber composite much like MDF but not quite as good as ply or as easiy to make a guitar out of without massive investment in plant and machinery...It is more polymer than lignin however...
In general response.
There is nothing wrong with using alternative materials in guitar construction I'm all for it. What I'm against is the claims that they (commercial vested interests) have suddenly discovered a way to overcome all the problems inherent in guitar building. They have not. What they have done is add a little more salt to the stew and introduced a bunch more problems.
Currently in terms of accepted preferences in terms of tone, decent hardwood back and sides and a spruce top have yet to be bettered despite some interesting and not always successful attempts to move things in a different direction. There may come a time when composites and other materials are capable of standing up against all timber instruments in a variety of applications but I doubt it will be in our lifetime. There are sound reasons for that.
LOL .... you were ........... you were man. Please don't hit me!I thought I was quite reserved this time..![]()
I've been here for almost 12 years and I'd say it hasn't changed much. If anything it's MORE civil now than at times in the past.Has this forum always been a place to argue?

At least I'm not seeing anyone running thru the forums threatening to kill each other.
THAT was fun.

I'm doing a bunch more of them in September. What spec would you like....![]()
I don't have time or energy to keep this place clean anymore. It has slipped into a mix of n00b5 and nonsense..
How is business your end these days. Things here are getting about as slow as I can remember..
Yeah, I'm with you there, I try to avoid getting into things myself.
Hard to say, the mic end is very slow but perhaps mainly because I botched a major product intro by being three months late and countingThe amp side is very busy, but not as profitable sadly.
I have some cool stuff on the drawing board for 2012, wireless/wired portable/OTG USB interfaces, should be fun. Trying to think a generation ahead of what others are doing towards a world where there are only instruments and very small transducers/interfaces and not much in between.
Unfortunately the world is likely to end the day before product launch, but oh well . . .
In the next world, I am going to focus solely on improving my poor quality pipe organ and ukulele building skilz![]()
Well, affordable would be one, but what other options can I get?? Gold plated machinery??
I'm still stuck in the "If I have to ask, I can't afford it" mode.
