Anyone else heard this one?

That the FL people are rewriting a version of Fruity Loops as a VSTI?

What a great idea.....and about time too!

If it's true

Anyone know for sure?

Further investigation revealed that new versions of FL can indeed work as a VST Instrument

See http://www.fruityloops.com/:

"Since release 3.5 you can use Fruityloops as a VSTi client in your favourite VSTi host (like Cubase, Sonar (using DXi/VSTi adaptor), Logic, Orion, ..."

This is great news! I have tried loads of ways of syncing audio with MIDI in Cubase *quickly and in a hassle-free manner*, and have suffered loads of grief along the way. Spent a long time using FL externally to VST and importing the resultant spooled .WAVs - that was OK, but a bit slow, and the loop creation process was necessarily divorced from that of the song itself. Used various software samplers and a few dedicated drum samplers, usually to poor effect, and even got good results from simply placing .WAVs onto the main edit screen. But Fruity was always better and less hassle than any of them, and has a wide range of sample, synthesis and editing capabilities

It's not going to work for everything I need, and there are probably a few things that other s/w does better. But I'm really looking fwd to getting FL 3.5+ going as a VSTi
