A buddy of mine has a Dean "budwiser" bowtie guitar that he got from the local beer distributer. You can sing threw the pick-ups from two feet away... It is an oddity but it belongs hanging on the wall not plugged into an amp.

When I was 6 years old my Mom and Dad bought me this really cheap plastic "rock" guitar guitar from Sears. Even the frets were plastic! But, I learned to play it.
That's the saddest little story I've ever heard. Keep your chin up, little soldier! :(

A steel stringed Levin, that had been in the family for years. The only thing worse than its sound was its playability. One song and there was blood...

When I was about 10 or 11 I remember buying this pile of junk Teisco off a kid from school for 5 bucks I think..
In fact, I think it was in pieces....LOL....
What a waste of 5 bucks....

:)

about 8 years ago I was reading through the advertiser and came across a mid-late 70's yamaha acoustic in excellent condition for $100. cool.. bought it from the other party and went home. the action on this thing seemed like a few inches away from the 12th fret... you really did need a pair of vise grips to push the strings down... that is the ONLY guitar I did resell.

Hondo. Blue Peavey lefty was next. But maybe that was me...

Had to be a Checkmate, I think Tiesco made them and Kmart sold them ( along with Western Auto and other department stores) back in the late 60s or early 70s, tone sucked, action sucked, intonation...nonexistant, neck like a log, but it looked cool.

I bought a bass guitar from a local shop and it was made by some local guy in town. It was cheap and I needed a bass at the time. It did the trick but it sounds like crap. The neck has a big crack down the center of it in the back. The only cool thing was the whammy bar on it and the black and white checked finish.

As for guitar, I think my acoustic is not the best. It's a Gibson CL-20. It's not bad, but it could be better.

Used to manage a music store years ago that bought these Korean made guitars and branded them with the "house brand" - Polaris. They were soooo bad. Microphonic feedback galore, terrible tone. Absolute, total crap.

My $2700 custom ESP. Sounds like ass. Plays great. Sounds like ass. Plays gre........oh sorry!:D Seriously, it's the worst sounding guitar.

Sorry I haven't read past the first post...........

.......other than your first guitar, how can their be a guitar you own that sounds bad. If it sounds like shit, why did you buy it?

the Hondo II Les Paul Jr copy...sounded like complete crap until I threw a new pickup in it. then I was in 'Mats heaven. Still have it and play it...

My buddy had a 3/4 size Harmony electric with those microphonic single-coil pickups that had the metal plate over the top so they sort of looked like humbuckers. Strap on a set of D'Addario 8's, use Radio Shack patch cord to connect guitar to postage-stamp-sized solid-state Gorilla amp, turn volumes to 11 and experience five watts of pure diarrhea.

The scary thing is that after a couple of years of jamming on that thing and recording it on my little silver Realistic ("it's not real, it's Realistic") cassette recorder with built-in dual electret condensers, it kind of almost sounded OK, in an old Kyuss sort of way, but with less articulation. :)

I don't know how I ended up with a shitty sounding $2700 guitar. I didn't pay that much but it was what it was listed for at the store. I guess I didn't pay a whole lot of attention to the sound. It really plays great but does sound like ass. I figure a new set of emg's and it'll be rockin.

I used to have an axe made by a company called "Arbor" It was shaped like an explorer and it sounded like CRAP!!! It had a cool blue-burst finish on it. I did my BEST Paul Stanley imitation on that damn thing.

My first guitar was a classical. I don't remember the name of the manuf. but I do remember it sounded pretty good untill my friend left it on top of a car while I went and got beer. Of course the car wouldn't stay in one spot for very long and I found it banged up in the st. Later my adolescent-drunken rant smashing it into the ground in the middle of the dunkin donuts parking lot at 3am didn't help.

Subsequently I was forced to duct tape the hell out of it and keep playing for 8 more months untill I could use my first college student loan check to buy my first electric.

It sounded like crap with all the duct tape.
