Hi Im Sonnie....i Have Home Recording Eqipment In My House.....i Rap And I Record Myself...now Want I Wanted To Know Was How Do You Make Your Add Lips Sound Like If Its More Than 1 Person.....like When You Here A Song And They Say....hay!!...hay!!...hay!!..hay!!...im Completely Lost...i Tryed To Record My Voice More Than Once And Add A Reverb Effect To It...but Its Not The Same...somebody Help Me Pleassseeee!!!....i Couldnt Download The Page....but If You Want To Know What Im Talking About Go To Quan Page On Myspace...the Name Of His Song Is "g Call"...background Vocals....

Short delay could be a way to achieve this type of vocal sound. Another way would be to record the voice several different times and sqaush them together. What you are hearing there has a lot of compression on it. I think there is also some delay split out to stereo tracks. Meaning the main recorded track is being sent out a bus to an aux track with delay on it. This then gives the impression that many voices are present instead of just the main clean one.

so there is no plug in used??..if so could you give me the specs...on how to perform this operation!!!....thanx ya"ll

You perform the part several times and pan each one to a different spot. That's it.

Farview - I think they are a few ways to achieve this though without performing several times. Would you like to discuss?

You can also get a group of people together to do the part into the mic. Do it twice, so you have stereo.

Sonnie, Why would you capitalize every word? It seems like a hassle and it makes it harder to read.

I agree with the caps on every word. Very hard to read.

Farview - that would be another way to achieve it. Something else I have heard in rap recordings is using the same performance, and off setting them. Meaning having one start early, and one start later. Also, I have heard pitch shifting used to achieve an even thicker sounding "group" of people.

Of course, we can't leave out the "group of people" switch on the console. It's right next to the not suck button. :)

I love that button. I use it whenever I'm recording jimmy2sticks and his alternative country polka big band. Works every time.

Sliding a copy of the vocal in time is the same thing as putting a delay of a few milliseconds on it.

The pitch shift thing (a stereo pitch shift with one side 9 cents up and the other 9 cents down) will give you a stereo spread, but it sounds synthetic, I wouldn't describe it as sounding like a group of people.

no, it doesn't sound like a group of people, but it does add a beef to the sound. i hear it in Dr. Dre stuff a lot.

Why do you put everything in caps in e-mails?

I know this has nothing to do with the thread, and I'm glad you found some good answers, but I was curious.

i put every thing in caps bcuz it recongnizable...but only with certain people...mainly the subject i capitalize....
