I just got a defect D202. I've got it to work (loose wires) and I'm in now putting it back together.

I've had a D242 appart a while back and it appears to be the same mic inside and out.

Does anyone know if there is an actual difference?

Moresound?

Do you mean the D 224? I have never heard of a D 242.

The 224 is similar to the 202 in that it is a dual capsule mic. with an extra capsule and crossover for the bass frequencies.

Both these mics do not suffer from proximity effect like normal directional mics, as the bass gets in the rear.

Both are excellent mics.

I'm not sure if they use different capsules inside and, anyway, the damping would be different.

Why AKG discontinued these two superb mics I have no idea.
