here's my story, i have a karaoke mixer at home (i think it's digital) been using it for a while, but notice that it create a hissing sound with the mic input (for some strange electronic problem this happened). Ok so i'm out to upgrade my stuff, i was looking at the bottom line mixer and they don't have any effects on them, all they got are equalizer. The reason i want some basic effects is this, for some bizzard reason when i use the echo, delay, reapeats on my crappy mixer it sounds more natural (and better) than using cool edit to apply the effect, i don't know if it's just my ears or not but cool edit's delay and echo sounds like crap, it's too dry and forceful. To make long story short, i do believe that the effect in the mixer is the key for better echo and delay. So what i'm really looking for is a cheap mixer with 2 or 3 input, and included some basic effect, price range has got to be less than 100 or 150. I'm broke, just bought a laptop and a computer.

As far as I am aware most of the cheap mixers with built in effects have set parameters that you can't really tweak. You may get 3 different "types" of reverb but they will be at fixed settings. Might I suggest to you a multi effects box, Behringer makes one for about ninety and they are a few more in the under 200 price range.

i don't see any echo effect on those, they got delay and reverb, any one used them before, they have like 100 effects but it's kindda hard to tell which one they have and which one they don't. Thanks.

and also, is it true that those mixer will provide more "natural" sounding effect (echo, delay ect..) than Cool Edit, or do i just sux when i applied the effects using cool edit and that causes it to sound unnatural,
BTW, how good is Alesis, the search fuction is turned off, i can't do any resesarch on this brand lol

These are in the one posted above
Integrated 24-bit digital stereo FX processor with 99 great-sounding VIRTUALIZER presets including reverb, delay, chorus, compressor, tube distortion, vinylizer and more plus 1 kHz test tone generator

Our banjo/dobro/fiddler uses one every weekend live with no noise problem at all... studio might be a different story

The effects on that mixer are really noisy... it adds a lot of noise when you turn the effects on.

Is it better to use effect from cool edit or is it better to use it from the mixer it self.

In this case... from cool edit, because the cool edit effects aren't nosey like the UB1204FX effects.

I run a karaoke business on the side also, and I use the Mackie DFX 12. I personally dont care for the effects especially for recording, but for live sound they are decent. You might want to look into a small berhinger mixer and go to ebay and get a lexicon mpx100 for around 80 to 100 for better effects. Probably end up costing you.....around $160.00 all together. Maybe cheaper if you buy both on ebay.

Good luck
hope this helps

i've had alot of mix answers on this subject, some told me that using cool edit effects would have "clearer" result than the included effects on the mixer. But from my past experience, even though the effect from the mixer isn't as clear it does sounds "better, and more natural". would some one care to explain why they are contradicting? and theoretically they should produce the same result since they are all digitaly processed. thanks. I know this might be really stupid to ask but i've just got to find out why this is happening the way it does.

Errrrrrrrrrrr....echo and delay are often considered the same thing. You will also find that regenerative delays sound like "echo's", etc....

I've been using Behringer stuff for a while and they have great effect programs. Never had any significant problems with noise from them.
Also, their Virtualizer is highly comparable to other companies' effect processors.
