I already own Sonitis EQ, and I just put it in the FX bus of any track that needs EQ'ing. Why is this new "per track EQ" any better? Is it just "cool" becuase you can see it right on the channel strip, or is there something more to it that I'm missing?

hey aaron,
i'll bet its a keepin up with the jones thing, i.e. samplitude has it, so if they include it with sonar they might be able to jimi loose some samp users.
fwiw, i'm still runnin sonar 1.31 even though i bought the 2.0 upgrade. it's still sittin on the shelf. probably be a while before i jump to 3.0.

Ya, I'm still running 1.3 as well. I already own the Ultrafunk suite and LiveSynth, so I don't need those. I'm pretty sure the VSampler stuff is a lark, and the "per track EQ" is nothing I can't already do just fine. The only thing I'd be missing by not getting the "producer" version in the Lexicon Reverb. Not worth it.

If I upgrade (and I probably will somewhere around version 3.2) I'm only getting the studio version.

I'm not so sure about that. The direct from disc streaming of samples allows for fantastic sounds.
I don't have V-sampler,but I do have Kompakt ,which I believe to be similar and the sounds are great. These samplers are in the same class as Gigastudio soundwise.

Per track eq?I'm sure they could have done it a long time ago. It's just a matter of the average user having a processor that can handle it.When PA9 came out the minimum spec was something like 300mhz,now it's 800mhz.

Come on, Aaron! You now it's cool. Just admit it... :D

Oh....I agree acidrock. But I'm starting to hear grumblings about much of the content being function disabled, etc, unless you spend more $.

And by the way..... my Seahawks are going the lay the hurt on your Packers tommorrow....

what makes it great is it makes mixing more fluid....i have jumped on samplitude 7 for various reasons for mixing and sonar as pre production...i feel a lot more creative using samp's mixing view which looks like a mixer has inserts aux buses a stock eq compressor and delay..which sound pretty good IMO and don't take to much cpu resource....

What is worth it, is that Sonar 3 sounds better than any version before it. Also the bussing is a ton better than it was before.

Aaron.

As far as track eq, I find it more usable because you do not need to have another open window to negotiate your adjustments. You can do all of your eq adjustments from the track view or console view. It's much cleaner and efficient. How many times have you had 6 different instances of your Ultrafunk eq open, and then had to keep track of which was for the bass, which for the vocal, which for the lead guitar, etc.? And then you start adding other plugins to the mix...

Also, heed BeeCee Powda's observation...Sonar 3 does sound better. ;~)
