what's the best way to wire a studio???

I'll have 1 main room and 3 isos.

I'm putting the drums in the main room.

Should I go for 8 channels with the drums??? If so, just use an XLR to 1/4" snake for that, and then wire the rest individually with cable and solder the XLR's/Jacks which will all obviously go to the patchbay.

Any thoughts??

You might find, on occasion, that you need more than 8 xlrs, and also a headphone return.

I made my own 12xlr/4trs boxes but wouldn't recommend it!! Maybe a wall box with 12 places would be better(maybe 10xlr/2trs) for drums.
