Whats the best interface for guitar/vox/bass??

I am newbie at this and what to get right into it!!. I was hoping that you guys can steer me in the right direction as to which interface to purchase. I play anything from metalcore to country so something with built in presets and stuff would be great cause I don't have the patience(or the know-how) to set up stuff. Basically i want an interface with a bundle of stuff to get me going in and around the $200-$300 range

yeah that sorta thing(Line 6) but i heard that one had alot of bugs. and i was going to go with usb or firewire(i have both). but i like having presets that sound good out of the box so like i said i don't need to play around for too long
 
When you say interface, I think audio interface, which is bascially a higher end and multi-input alternative to a sound card in your PC. Audio interfaces don't really have presets....so maybe you are confusing your terminology?
 
perhaps......basically i want to record music with my laptop.....and need to find a way to do it. I know that some software comes with presets built in(you know like metal sounds, country sounds)....PRESETS!!!!!!! you click on them than you get that sound rather than playing around for awhile....meh you know what thanks anyways guys
 
Listen carefully, torchwood - folks are trying to help you, but you have to learn enough to know what you're asking before you can hear the answers...:)

Okay sound-cards and what you mean by "pre-sets" are two different things entirely.

A sound-card will connect your guitar/bass/microphone to your PC. Depending on your software sequencer, you may be offered certain guitar amp simulators that run off your PC.

Otherwise, you need a multi-effects pedal like a Line 6 POD or Boss GT 8.
 
I´m quite happy with my Guitarport. Audiointerface and modeling software in one easy to use package. And if you get bored by the software you can still use it as just a soundcard and run any modeling software you like (Guitarrig, Amplitube etc).

It helped me quite a lot when I was a beginner and seriously confused by all the gadgets in the world of music.

Same here! Really, any Line 6 product is good (Guitarport, Toneport UX1 & UX2). Getting used to them doesn't take very long at all!


These Line 6 productis comes with Guitar effects software with them, and have tons of presets (for Cabs, Amps, etc.) whether its an Acoustic or Electric.

Each Guitarport and Toneport product comes with an interface where you plug your guitar into the interfaces, and the interface plugs directly into your computer via USB.

The only big difference between Guitarport and Toneport is that Guitarport comes with Gearbox software, which adds effects to your guitar with Amps and Cabs, and so on and so forth. BUT, you need to download or buy your OWN recording software, and you can ONLY RECORD YOUR GUITAR.

Toneport allows you to record not only your guitar AND voice, but comes with Riffworks, which is kind of like Gearbox, and with different kinds of effects, and can record your guitar, unlike Guitarport! But still, you are limited with what you record, and how much you record (such as editing, and drum machines).

Your best bet, if you only want to spend $300 or less on interfaces and recording software, I'd say go with either Guitarport with SONY ACID or CAKEWALK.... or just buy the Toneport and get used to how to record decent tracks with the Riffworks software. To me, I think that's probably the best, easiest, and cheapest way to go for amature recording like I started out using!!
