I've heard a little about the RNC. Are there any others that do a good job???

RNC hands down..no need to look further then that...doesn't add too much color though it does have a certain tone to it...very transparent making it very flexible and usable in virtually all application unless your tryna make something dirty then you'd be better off with one of the cheap compressors like a 3630
