Whats the best analog freindly sound card?

does it have to be a soundcard? Will a stereo hi-fi amp with an RIAA Phono input do the trick? That's what I've used. With good results.

You cannot plug a record player directly into a computer soundcard......This is what you have to do:

1.)Plug your record player into the Phono input on your home stereo.

2.)Get a cable that has a 1/4" on one end and a 1/8" on the other

3.) Plug the 1/4" cable into the Phons jack on your stereo

4.) Plug the 1/8" jack into your sound card line in.

Walla!!!

- be sure that the 1/8" cable is balanced (TRS)

- when recording, arm 2 tracks for recording on your software. one should be the right side of your sound card, the other should be set up for the left side.

Your in business!

gargamel seemed to hit on my problem in his reply. How do i get my computer to "record" teh source from the line in on my computer (which is the record player via my stereo)?
