whats better: computer recording or a DAW.

I had a little debate with my brother about this. He seems
to think that computer recording is better. I was looking at
the roland 24 track but he said that recording to the computer
would be better. What do you think: a 24 track DAW or
the computer. Thanks.

Thats a subjective question. It depends what your needs are. DAW's don't even come close to software when talking about editing capabilities and the overall UI. DAW's are also not as expandable/easily upgradeable as a computer system.

Neither is "better". Computers are better at editing but aren't as intuitive or stable. I track to an HD24 but transfer those tracks to a PC for editing. So I do both.
