So I have traded in me pro tools mbox and some other stuff to get something with more inputs. I have about 400 bucks to work with here, so I was thinking about the Firebox. But then i saw the Firepod and was all 0_o and then i saw Layla and delta 1010, so which one should i get? I don't have a mixer or anything.

You're gonna have to post a lot more information about what you're looking to do before anyone will be able to point you in a direction, like:

1. How many sources will you need to record simultaneously?
2. Do you need mic preamps for all those sources or can you beg/borrow/steal a mixer to provide the mic preamps?
3. $400 will limit you on what you can get. You'll be hardpressed to find a Firepod for that, but you can find an M-audio 1814 for that.

It all comes down to what sources and how many tracks are you recording at one time. Answer those questions and that will be a start.

1. The more the merrier! Drums just aint no good on 2-4 tracks, and I got the mics for 8 inputs.
2. Need pre's thats why i liked the Firepod
3. Can get used for about $300, that and i found another chunk of stuff to sell that should net about 450-500 bucks.

Help me spend me cash wisely!

Firepod would be good at that price for what you want to do. Only things I don't like about the Firepod is no DSP software to configure your routing and what not and the monitor mix feature is kind of funky on it. I know just enough to be dangerous so you'll have to do a little more homework on the specifics of the the monitor features. Still...it's a good interface.

There's nothing else in that price bracket with 8 preamps. The firepod is a good unit
