This bar I gig at occasionally replaced a CD-based jukebox with an "Internet" jukebox. I don't know how long these things have been around but this scrappy, classless, fire-trap of a bar for local desert rats barely stays in business so apparently it's within their budget.
It's very cool. For about the same $ you'd expect to drop into a jukebox you can download and play just about anything available. Seemed to have a bunch of standard rock tunes but also had a "new this week" banner the scrolls along the touch-screen display.
I don't recall the make/mfg/provider but it just seemed to me the perfect application for internet-based music and one that could easily accomodate local artists. Can anyone here tell me more about them?
