Whatcha guys think bout a HR website?

Wow. This membership site looks good. This will save us a lot of time. So, if we use this service, we already have $199 used to make this site.

One more thing. If you we PHP, you have to update the software all the time cause hackers always try to hack through the site. So, this is a site that has to be monitored all the time. So, know that this is will be a full time job. Trust me I know. So, you guys still up to it?

Know here are more questions.

1. Is this site just for use or anyone can sign up?
2. Free like Soundclick and all those other sites?
3. What is is the angle to make this site different then Streetspace, Myspace and all the others? What will drive someone to use the site if millions are using Myspace and Soundclick? Maybe we put more resources?
4. Do we want to combine all our resource sites?
5. PR -We need to build up our Page Rank to get on the top searches. This takes time. Maybe 4 months to a year.
6. Content. The home page has to have the right keywords and optimization to get good rankings on searches. We have to research unique but highly searched keywords so we get found.
7. Monitoring and matenance.

2. Half of me thinking it should be free, the other half is saying pay.

Or we could do profile etc, upload 10 tracks, and offer services from mastering to duplication & a excellent marketing package. Anyways, we would need to sit down and plan it all out either way.
 
How about free to sign up and then for extra features, more then 10 beat uploads it's extra? You can have membership levels. That's what I'm gonna do for my site. Have member levels.

My bad. I just start talking with web lengo.

Member levels are the types of memberships you sign up for. Basic/ free you have limited features and so on. Kind of like Soundclick where you can have a free account or VIP...

1. Im thinkin direct it toward hip-hop/rap production?
2. I like the membership levels idea.
3. Make it appealing, modern, cool looking, add more logical features.
4. Im not sure what you mean?
5. Time is the key.

7. I got time to do updates and make should everything is running smoothly but everyone sure put in and help out with things. :)

...and another thing, what exactly will we name this site?
i want to start designing some things for a BETA version.
 
I think we got a vast library of resources that we can offer. If this were to be an artist site like soundclick, wouldn't it be benificial to involve all genres' of music other than just 1-2? Maybe we should create 3-4 different templates that the users can choose from and customize.
 
ok im lost now.... first I thought the plan was to make a website for us to help promote our music and that type of thing... now it seems like the website is goin to be like a soundclick where other people come in and can upload there music?.... if im write then iown really kno about that cause like said why not just use soundclick or myspace because A there already established and B they got way more pull then we do....

If we were build a site to help us promote our music then I got some good ideas for that tho....
 
yeah, I think idea's were popping out.

I really would like to do it all lol. personal, and a indie artist site and profile site lol.

Well, doing a public site, with 100,000 members, and our material plastered on the front page & every free member's page in a small banner somewhere isn't all that bad.

If we do it as a membership thing, you gotta give a little taste of love for the free accounts. Otherwise we don't stand out worth of shit. What about live internet radio 10am to 10pm. Playing user music (and our own) at a certain time on 2-3 different internet radio channels.

Yeh honestly I like that idea a lot better. Its easier to construct, and i know the process a lot better (im not sure how to go on about PHP scripting at the time being), and plus we do already have soundclick to promote our music. So here what i think... We should put together a modern, slick layout for a HR website. Get a domain, possibly a host but i know a dude that may be able to get me hosting free, and then add all the content. ECT.

Anyone ideas and opinions post em up. :)

I think we're just flying ideas around to see our options. We won't know what our limits are until we go trough all the ideas. Then we can pick what'sthe best idea.

I think for starters, that'll be nice.
 
Here was My idea for the website..... have like seperate profiles for everyone who wants to be involved.... like On the Front page maybe have Names and a Banner/Cover/Pix of the artist which is also a link to there section of the site...... then in the individual sections have like a artist Bio.... some of their music.... stuff like that....... then to atract more attention to the site have a like "Goodies" section where people can download some Free sound kits, Beats, Tutorials, Beat Making Videos, etc. ...... and have a Section with like exclusive sound kits and stuff or for that section just divert umm to beatsbuy site....
 
haha yeh deff. Thats exactly what i wanted to do actually, and on each artists profile have a link to their main website (if they have one) so that will get promoted as well...

And as far as traffic/attention goes, we would certainly be getting hits to the site. I know for a fact, because i play our music in my car down the street, on my mp3 player at school, whatever, and i have had people ask me like "ah what song is that its sick" and, "you got some tight music on there" (referring to the mp3 player). So people deffidentally like our music where i am, and they always askin where they can get it. Sometime i give it to em, say spread the word. Other times i dont have the patients. But the site could certainly expose it better in that i could just give people the URL say its all right there...

On the Linux server tip.. Lookup Filezilla for a good clean way to FTP and SFTP to your server...
