What yall do for a livin?

I'm a computer guy. I like to call myself a "web software engineer".

I do web-based applications and web sites.

I sit in front of dual 19 inch monitors with a computer with two 250GB hard drives, 1 GB of RAM, and a 3 GHz processor and I write code and do graphics all day...

I'm not a producer...just a singer/songwriter...
 
I'm a assistant manager at a mainstream record store...that's for now.

I plan on moving to Berlin (Germany) in february, and get a job in the music business through my contacts....like booking-agent or something in promotions, while studying audio engineering at SAE.
 
I know this might be a "grown up" thread but what the heck lol. Im still in high school @ H.D Woodson in D.C. However the section that im in at my school is a section for students that look to be in the business world or corporate world. We study ish like Accounting, Banking and Credit, Business Communications and ish like that. Its all good but sometimes it gets too routine and boring but thank God for girls :D . I also work at FedEx field as a lot attendant and parking cashier/hustler(giving spots im not supposed to for money only $15 and up ;) I make beats as a hobby and I want to go to college for something in music production but I figured it might be hard to get a job after college if I do that...maybe yall can help me out with that ;) Well thats about it other than hustlin a lil bit, gettin girls, and oh yeah I play CB at H.D too I run a 4.42 40 yard dash, and thats about it...and oh yea im kinda a laid back chill dude that loves 2 laugh :D

Reading back over this ish sounds more like an online dating write up more than what I do for a living lol
 
Im a mechanical engineer at a power plant during the day(7 years)/ and work part time in a tattoo shop slinging ink (4 years).

I work for the Govt travelling all over the world.............If you name a country, it's a good chance that "I've been there"!
Sounds exciting, but believe me "It gets Old"............. A lot of time away from the Family, but it helps me appreciate home more. (Plus you see so much, it opens your mind and allows you to write more meaningful songs)

I'll probably be handling business on the side at least until the ex stops trying to figure out how to get her grubby little non-working, AOL pimping, hoodrat minded, social security taking, no self esteem having, cupcake eatin' hands on my businness money.

I keep it all under the table. She tried to hit me up for 20% of sales off my first CD, but that was all sold out the trunk so she had no proof I turned profit. The beats I sell, it's all under the table. Yeah I have contracts and bills of sale, but she's not going to know how much I actually do sell and how much I "keep for myself". Sometimes you have to be shrewd and a little deceitful in these types of situations. Luckily, she doesn't have the financial means to go after me. Now as far as supporting my kid goes, that's cool with me. That's what needs to be done anyway. I do that through my 9 - 5. She gets mad because most of the support I pay goes to the state to pay for the welfare she's on because she won't work. My kid needs something, I get it for my kid. I won't support her decision to live off of the government and not contribute anything to her home herself....AND teach my kid that it's ok to do the same thing. That's straight bullshit.

Edit: Any business I go mainstream with will be as an LLC. That's the smartest way to go if you're in the situation I'm in now.

See you guys want your name in lights and that's cool. I'd prefer to either be on a major level producing the shit (maybe throwing on a verse here and there) or just having a small local following and fanbase while being an MC, beat-maker, and producer at the same time.
 
damn, another reason im scared to have a child lol. By day im a corporate thug by night im in someones wife or in the studio with someones wife (yay for me) and if not any of those, maybe on a blackberry or sidekick doing illegal biz.

I don't wanna be in the lights either! As long as my wallet catches the glow, i'm happy sittin in the shadows.
 
While I checkout our property for a spot to build the studio(the basement is getting to be small, plus wifey has some interesting plans to increase square footage), i'm 2 semesters away from finishing my BS in Comp Sci and Business Information System
i currently work as as Software developer.
