I have found a Delta 1010 for $475 and an Aardvark q10 for $739.
The delta is used and doesn't have preamps. The q10 is brand new and comes with 8 preamps, 4 of which are phantom powered, and inserts on 4 channels as well. Also the q10 has monitor outs seperate from the 8 out that correspond to each mic preamp and is supposed to have a far superior clock. Yet the delta supposedly has better converters.
I have a Behringer 2642a and could use it for preamps for the delta. However, according to this board these preamps are not that great.
Also my dream has been to have a mixerless studio for sometime now, but I just don't want to have a crappy signal chain. I have read the reviews on the Aardvark and they hardly satisfy me because they really hardly comment on the pres and mostly talk about the low jitter clock.
I guess what I am really wondering is whether the q10 is a little better or a lot. I mean can it hold it own with a Stienberg or Nuendo or a MOTU.
I have a done a search and really can't find an answer, so I am looking for one. And lastly, is MOTU *that* good? Keep in mind this is for PC.
