Below is a pic of a clean-out penetration for the plumbing. This clean-out comes out of the kitchen area. The kitchen is completely enclosed, but as you can see the hole has about a 1/4" to 3/8" area cut thru the OSB around it. What would be the best way to seal this? Caulk?
Is there some kind of "boot" that could go around it, and then get caulked?

There was a similar exterior penetration on the main house that was handled this way:

Do you think this would be adequate?

Oh, and here's a few "dirt and grime" photos too!

My whole studio is a construction staging area. :(

Oh yeah, and I had another question too. I'm going to use that Tyvek house wrap, and I was wondering if it goes on between the OSB and the "silver board" or over the "silver board"?

(Silver Board is an exterior insulative material that goes between OSB and brick or stone.)

Michael, it should be OK - is the new one in an area that will also have brick veneer? Also, how are you going to flash the brick veneer? I've never done that, but would assume you'd need a way to keep water from running down the wall and possibly getting behind the brick -

On the Tyvek, I've always seen it put directly on the frame, then everything else over that. Its purpose is a kind of "breathable" vapor barrier... If you've already put the OSB on, hopefully the Tyvek can be put on over it. Since the Tyvek breathes some, it shouldn't cause any problems with condensation - To be sure, though, you should get some input from local builders - Austin is kind of humid from what I hear, so things may be different... mike,i am assuming that the c/o is directly behind the kitchen sink.
why not rotate the sanitary tee so that the c/o can be accessed
underneath the kitchen sink.then you have no exterior penetration.
studio is looking good man!

Knightfly - yes, it'll have brick around it too.
Its full width brick though, not really a veneer. Well, it's like 1 1/2" wide, 1 1/2" thick and 10" long. You may call that veneer, but here brick veneer is 1/2" panels that LOOK like brick.

As far as flashing you put the flashing against the studs, before any exterior siding goes on. In the case of the c/o, the brick goes all the way up to the eaves. On the back and sides, it goes up 4 feet. You can see the flashing for that in the pics. Its a black band running horizontal.

I just checked - the tyvek goes on right after the OSB. I want to use it because it really help to give the hermeticle (sp) seal.

sheppard - Local amendments to the UBC require c/o's to be accessible from the outside.

I broke ground Jan. 2nd of this year. I thought I'd be further along than I am now, but I WAS working on it over weekends and holidays. If it happened to rain on the weekend, well, I'd loose 2 weeks.

I recently took a leave of absence from work, so now I can dedicate myself full-time to this. So hopefully, we'll see major gains in progress here in the next few weeks.
Brick is going to be delivered this weekend. 9 pallets!
9 pallets set up along the curb! My neighbors are going to hate me.:p Oh well.
