What was your very first guitar?

The first guitar I ever got was bought at this shoddy little pawn shop named Know Nose that was in business in my hometown for about 2 weeks. It was a fender acoustic guitar and I got it for 60 bucks and it was no Martin but it still sounded like a dream. One day I handed it to my buddy to hold cause the pizza guy was outside, my buddy not being a guitar player didn't understand the importance of being super careful with a man's favorite and only guitar. He didn't keep a good grip on it and as I walked away I heard it crash onto the floor. There was a little hole on the bottom back but surprisingly enough it didn't really affect the sound of the quitar, but then again I was only 12. Even though I loved the sound of that thing I decided to get rid of it a year or so down the road for somethin new. About another year or two passed and my best buddy calls me up one day and tells me he got this really cool guitar from the back room of the local shop. He pulls it out of the case and it said Fender on the headpice. I thought it looked familiar but I didn't think there was any way it was my old one. I grabbed it and flipped around and right there on the bottom was that same hole! No one even bothered to repair it! I played a few notes and it sounded great. Just as I remembered. Goes to show that the things you love from the beginning, find a way back to you somehow, someway. My buddy still owns the guitar and loves it and every time he brings it by, I sit down with it and let it sing.

Harmony student-size acoustic. A total POS that I loved dearly, despite its impossible intonation problems.

A Chessmate nylon string accoustic was my first guitar

A Hondo All Star (strat style H & H Red with Black pickguard like Night Ranger's Brad Gillis) was my first real guitar

First acoustic was a cheapo acoustic with the worst action in the world.....

First electric was a Peavey T-15......

First guitar

My first electric guitar was a Teisco Del Rey.

Which is Spanish, I think, for "Piece of Shit."

But I could be wrong. :D :D :D

I got mine from Brashes Palings in Brisbane city. It was a sunburst strat knock off that cost about $200. That was back in 1990. I kept it until a couple of years ago. Then I chucked it. I've had a fair few other guitars since. Now I have a Taylor 110 acoustic, a Squire Strat and a Bronco bass.

I got mine from a place called the Music Crib in 1985.

Would that be the same Music Crib that's in Oak Lawn, Illinois on Southwest Highway?

A bright red Cort Les Paul "studio" look alike. P.O.S. I think it was just over 1" thick and the G string would go out of tune by the time I was done playing one song.

I started saving a couple months after I got it, realizing that as a teenager with a job and no bills I could buy whatever I wanted. Better get something good now instead of wait until later when I had "more important" things to spend my cash on.

A year later I bought a Gibson Les Paul Custom. Best $1100 I ever spent. I can't remember what I did with the Cort. I think I sold it to someone at school.

First acoustic was an Applause cutaway. 16 years later I replaced it with a Taylor 110. I consider that $200 well spent, too. I still have it, but its in *sad* shape. I used to play it in the rain when I worked at camp.

My first guitar was some off-brand electric called Norma. I then upgraded to a no-name acoustic guitar bought from some market vender in Mexico with action about an inch above the fretboard.

My first acoustic was a 1965 Harmony archtop....pile of crap but, I loved it!
My first electric was a Royce sg copy with a Marlboro amp complete with tremelo function.......again a POS but, would love to have them back again just for old times sake!!!

Harmony "Stella". The one with the tiger stripes and the bridge that moved every time you changed strings.

I put LaBella nylons on it, strung it lefty.

First song I learned was I Had A Dog And His Name Was Blue. ;)

Then Ridin' On The MTA and eventually Roll On Columbia.

I never did figure out why in the 7th grade in 1971 the teacher in the guitar class wouldn't copy Purple Haze and pass it out to the class.......

Then I got some cheapo no-name electric. Right strung left.

Got my first nice guitar, a Gibson SG lefty in 1974. Still have it too. :D

Les Paul Junior 1965-ish. Dad says, 'We'll get ya a Gibson. Least' we know they don't make junk..'
About $115 if I recall.

I always wanted an SG. Such a cool built-in rock tone. ;)

First axe: BC Rich Warlock I bought back in 92
Also happened to be the first guitar I smashed. :)

Conn D-3212
Which was their top of the line 12-string. I paid $250.00 for it in 1975. I sold it 5 years later when I got out of college and thought I needed a better guitar. I wish I still had that one.

First guitar was a sunburst Strat copy by Sumbro - Japanese, i think. Was OK, as it turned out. Modded it to death and painted it grey for some reason. It came with a Watkins Clubman amp which I've still got - turns out it's a pretty rare transitional model from '61-62. I've recently had it refurbed and it sounds incredible. Low wattage, point-to point handwiring and all that sort of business. Great for recording and looks like an old Dansette record player or something. Sweet.

Mine was n nylon string Encore.

The intonation is wrecked and it has many sonic and playability problems.
It's basically firewood - but I still seem to write most of my songs on it and enjoy playing it!

I really must get a new nylon string as that's my only one - and I *love* nylon strings! :)

first guitar: seagull S6 acoustic. still have it, though it has a dent in it's side. i think it was knocked over during one of our frequent cat chases.

first electric: 1981 les paul standard. black. traded for '65 ludwig drums.

In 1975 my mother bought me a mid 60's sears silvertone with a fake bigsby type trem that refused to stay in tune. (the kind that if you pulled up too hard the spring fell out and rolled under the bed) It was a $35 paawnshop prize :) It wasn't even standard scale. When the neck became loose andI needed to replace it the 24 1/4" replacement neck was too long and the heel was too big. So I epoxied the hell out of it and eventually sold it to a friend of my brother's for $10

Mine was a little transparent red single pickup Kay electric that I bought at a Western Auto store. I bought the little all tube 5 watt amp (also made by either Kay or DanElectro) at the same time.
