Hey,

Ive been building my home studio since 2 months now and the recording rooms are almost done about now.

ive got a pretty big buget (14,000 Euro, yes ive been saving alot) and im preparing to buy my stuff within this month.

I am currently using an Acer laptop for personal use, but i dont think this will end up recording good stuff. (also because laptops shut down if they get to hot)

is an Apple Imac Intel Core2Duo 2,4GHz 20" 250GB, 1GB, 128MB, 8x SD DL good enuf for some cool recordings?

thanks,
Arthur

I agree I would add more RAM. At least 2 GB.

Then of course you have more screen real estate with an iMAC.

I went out and got a 24 inch for my PowerMAC G5. Its pretty sweet.

i would upgrade it to 3 GB RAM, it will be fine, thanks.
it would only cost me about 1100 all together with the upgrades, that will work just fine! now i can spend more then enough for the gear. :)

fyi, an iMac IS a laptop. You could make music on it for sure, but it has its limitations just like any other laptop.

Worthless, noisy and a dead end - OS X 10.6 is expected to drop all PowerPC processor support when it is released next year. The thing sounds like a jet fighter (not appropriate for DAW work). Definitely not worth 1400 Euro...

Even a 1.83 Ghz Core2Duo Mac Mini would be faster than that and have a longer shelf life.

get an external hd if you can, safe and more reliable .... faster... .etc
