what to use for maudio 1814 unbalanced inputs

what should i get to use my maudio 1814 unbalanced inputs. im not sure if i should get mic pres or a mixer with outputs. to be honest im not sure what outputs id need from the mixer. so what should i get to power my mics so i can use these inputs for multitracking. the term unbalanced is throwing me off a little too. i hope this makes sense.

Either line level outputs from a mixer's preamps with 'direct outs' (each preamp/channel has it's own line out) or dedicated preamps are fine going into the line inputs on the M-audio.
Most gear can go balanced into unbalanced and unbalanced is fine for short runs.

any recommendations for a mixer or pres that would allow me to use all my inputs? i would like one with 8 or so pres so i dont have to get a bunch of separate ones.
