A Sennheiser e604 should fit in there nicely, and give smooth vintage dynamic sound. For jollies, wire the XLR connector on the 604 to the original connector and use an amphenol cable, There's vintage vibe for you. BTW, some plumber's teflon tape will help to get the threads to fit an adaptor for a modern mic stand. Good luck.-Richie

A RIBBon for recording would be unique, but tricky I fear....
A good dynamic would be proper for stage.. (NEX on the old connector idea.)
Maybe a very good dynamic would be the most practical way to go.
