Hi everyone, this is my first post here, but I'm really looking forward to getting into home recording and learning everything there is to know!

Anyway, I don't have a lot of money, I have about £65 to spend and I need a mic that is capable of recording electric guitar and vocals. I'll also need a stand and pop filter I'm assuming so that leaves me about £45 for the microphone. I've been looking at the Behringer C1-U and it performs well with vocals, but I can't find any reviews of people using them with electric guitar, only acoustic.

I also don't have an interface so all XLR microphone are out of the question.

What do you recommend?

Save your money. Purchase the mixing engineers handbook first and save even more money now and in the future.

While I would say you don't really need that handbook, you will probably want to save your money. When you become more experienced in this, you will find the cheaper gear not useless, but certainly unsatisfactory.

Now, you certainly don't have to buy the best gear out there. But don't spend your money on gear that will be thrown away later.

Unless you are merely recording to 'get ideas down', you will ultimately be unsatisfied with the sound of a USB mic - just read all the threads here about them!
