So, I have our living room full of my gear. My wife says to me last night, why don't you fix this place up and make it more usable as a studio.... I knew I married the right one...
anyhoo, the room is pretty small, (image attached) 9.6ft x 21.4ft with 8.3ft ceiling, and it's still the main entrance to the house so blocking either door is not an option. Currently my gear is up against the north wall and I use it as one big control/live room. (record with headphones, mix with monitors).
I hate having my back to people though while tracking so I was thinking about turning the console against the west wall in the north half of the room. How will that affect my mixing though with only about 8 ft from the monitors to the "back wall"?
Any other suggestions on what I can do here?
