What to do with a bag of R13?

I've got a drop ceiling in my practice space. It hides 14" joists and hangs about 6" below them. I just replaced four 2'x2' ceiling tiles with DIY 1" thick 703 absorption panels for use as a cloud, and was planning on backing it up with some extra R13 (faced) I found in my basement. Turns out there's enough R13 to lay over the entire ceiling--should I bother to get a bit more bass trapping? And if I do, should I go face up or face down?
 
If you end up using it; use it with the metal foil backing away from the sound source(s), the backing with reflect the sound waves before they can be "absorbed".
 
I might suggest stripping the foil off the back of the R13, you have a better chance of catching a greater spectrum of frequencies if the waves pass through the absorber. Not like it gains you much and it is a FUCKING PAIN to strip the batts.

are you saying that you already have a bass trapping up in between the joists? in that case you should be fine with just adding the R13, if not.... yeah you would probably want some more trapping.

I'm not going to bother stripping the batts. Just wanna know if it's worth it to throw the shit up there. I read somewhere for bass trapping it's good to leave the foil on the front, but with the ceiling tiles between the source and absorption I dunno...

There's no trapping in the bays now.
 
it probably wont matter too much in the end if the foil is up or down but i definitely suggest overlapping the batts at least to that there is some airflow through the fibers.

your dealing mostly with drums yeah?
