I'm getting digital performer and I'm trying to figure out what mixer to buy. i need something with firewire capabilities that will send separate channels to separate tracks in the software for multitrack recording (live). hi, im new at this (and here). my friend has the tascam 1884 and while thats the mixer i need, i need a much cheaper smaller one. help!! thank you :)

i've seen that one, will it work with digital performer? all the websites mention cubase, which i'm not getting. thanks alot, by the way!! :) :)

i'm not sure....you'll have to compare drivers, although I wouldn't know why not. all the sites mention Cubase because that's what comes with it.

oh. well the way its described, it seems like it would to me. if not would it be a matter of a download (like a driver) or something? again very inexperienced in this stuff. and really, i appreciate the help.

i'm not 100% familiar with DP...but according to the Alesis manual the mixer is just plug and play. first time you plug it in you choose "USB Audio Codec" and it's ready to go. The firewire version is still fairly new too...i think it came out in June if I'm not mistaken (maybe even later), so there isn't a lot of documentation or reviews on it yet.

that helps, thanks. i'll just get it, if it doesn't work, i'll send it back and bug someone else, thanks for the insight!!

Take a trip over to unicornation.com and post there. Or search their BBS for "control surfaces." It's also a good place to post specific questions if you ever run into issues using DP. I'm not sure how many DP users there are on this board. After all, it's always been a MAC program.
