Looking for some suggestions on upgrading to 16 tracks and get away from mixing with the mouse. I'm starting to get mouse finger.

Current Gear as follows.

Behringer MX8000 (Yea I know but for the $250 I paid it's not bad)
Yamaha MSP5 Monitors
Echo Layla 24/96
Pentuim 4 3.0 2GB Ram 2 75gig WD Raptors
Cubase SX 3
Frontier Designs Dakota ADAT Lightpipe card.

I've got a few ideas on how to proceed but thought I would get some input from some other people.

1. Get a 2nd Layla and a control surface.
2. Switch to a MOTU 2408 and a 24i
3. Mackie D8B
4. Behringer ddx3216
5. Any other suggestions?

Has anyone used a Mackie D8B with Cubase sx? If so does the HUI mode work well with Cubase? The manuals I've read show the most compatibility with Protools.

My budget is $2500 any comments appreciated.
thanks.

This link will take you to a sure cure for 'mouse finger', is compatable with Cubase, and costs less than half of your stated budget.

was gonna suggest the same thing. the tascam fw-1884 would be awsome for a soundcard/control surface all in one

Another unit to take a look at would be the Tascam DM-24 mixer. You can get a firewire expansion card for it, and it also works as a control surface in addition to being an excellent mixer. Far better than the DDX3216 in my opinion.

What Do I Do Next

I have a Yamaha PSR-GX76, Fruityloops, and a Pioneer CDJ-1000MK2 CD looper mixer thing. What else do I need and how do I connect fruityloops to my keyboard to play music on FL off of my keyboard. In other words how do I hook everything up or can I?
