i record at night almost always late, i find that the best time to mix is at 1:00 AM just wondering what every one else does

Anytime I should be doing something else...like working.

I had to click late at night cuz that was the closest, but it's not late at all. We start around 7 o'clock PM, depending on how it goes we'll work til anytime between 10 PM and 1 AM, but usually around midnight. Mixing is a different story, that could be a rainy afternoon or at 3 AM with a cup of coffee, cold with a fly in it.

glad to know i am not the only night time warrior

A typical weekend (except for today, Labor Day.)

09/04/04 - 5 hour record session (acoustic guitar), began at 10:00 a.m. 2 hour mix later in the evening.

09/05/04 - 5 hour record session (upright bass), began 11 a.m. 2 hour mix last night

09/06/04 - 6 hour record session, began at 10 a.m. Very enjoyable. I was tracking a pretty talented bajor player but it was his first time in the studio. It was kind of cool watching face as he heard himself on playback. Only got tracks on three songs but they're good takes. Mixed tonight for about 2 hours starting about 8 p.m.

More 411 than you wanted? ;)

Damn near any time of the day. Sometimes I go down and power up the rig at 5:00 AM with a cup of coffee. Sometimes that's just about when I power it down for the night.

Whenever I have a band booked in. Generally during the day because of isolation problems and I don't want to upset the neighbours.

Recording sessions usually go from 8pm to 1am. Drums stop by 11pm. The neighbors can't hear anything but I have 2 kids. Mixing can happen at anytime. Thats the great thing about having everything ready to go in the basement.

i like to record starting at like 2 pm, becasue the musicians have usually been warming up since they poured their first cup of coffe. makes things go a lot smoother. I try to cut off by 6 or 7, and make them go get dinner, and they can come back if they want. theres nothing worse than a hungry artist.

I record when I feel like it. :)

If I wake up at 4am and My wifes voice is awake we records. LOL

Mixing, I am picky. 90% of the time I start at 12noon as I am awake and coherent by that time.

Ever so often I get up at 7am and start mixing.

I prefer to mix as early as I can in the day when my ears are fresh. When it comes to recording I prefer noon - 7. I like jamming late at night. It just depends on what I am doing. Mixing late at night is horrible for me because my ear's have been subjected to all sorts of frequencies, all day long, and are a bit strained.

I also do a majority of my mixing at low levels using a set of Tannoy Reveal Active studio monitors. They rule.

after i put the kid to bed, and i put the wife to bed, then i get to record. the true weekend warrior now, i might stay up all night on friday and saturday.

You have energy to work after you put your wife to bed?

I dont I usually need a nap afterwards :)

this has been cool to watch

hey this has been cool to watch
yeah i record at night , mix later on, sometimes
that night later and sometimes the next morning
or when ever. most times right after i do all the overdubs.
i am happy to know i am not the only night owl that records :D

mostly at nights...since ma room is not soundproof...but i do my mixing n other staffz whenever i get time

Evening or nights here. Sometimes in the morning if I need to hammer down some fast "ideas".

keep er goin.......

late at night for me. i live in an apartment over a business on a busy street. the traffic noise sucks but i don't have to worry about disturbing anyone. the traffic is pretty dead by 11pm until about 4am. i get home from work just before 11pm so this works out pretty good.

you will see me lurking the bbs any where from 11pm to 7am. who needs sleep?
