vox,

Thanks a lot. Your right about the vocals. It seems this may not be the final mix after all. I guess I pretty much got the answer to one of my questions. Thanks for the comments. I'm having trouble mixing the vocals and I'm afraid to E.Q. it to death. I try to use as little e.q. as possible because I've killed tracks already.

Who knows................... Thanks.

later.

Mess with it bro..... If you knew how much Eq I use on my tracks, you'd give birth right on the spot

Email the vox to me just by itself with no music, and I will load it into my system, and eq it up for you, the way *I* think it should sound, and that will give you a bit of a guide for your eq'ing

try a 50 dB cut at 1000hz with a wide 10 octave bell shape....or...a lo pass filter around 25hz....OR...a hi pass...say around 56K.....
But for me bsabb...you can give me a happy face curve on the 31 band, if you like;)

It seems I may have asked the wrong question because, WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? :( What is a 10 octave bell? I have a parametric e.q. on my recorder, but I don't understand what your talking about. :( Are these reccomendations for the mix e.q. or just the vocal track? Man, I'm getting more confused.

VOXVENDOR,

That is really cool of you to offer to do that. How would I get them back to my recorder after you fixed em'? I don't record with the computer so how would I sync them?

thanks bro.

Sabbath.....

You don't have to get them back on the track...

What you would do is, just use the one I do as a reference for Eq'ing the actual one in the recording..

Even if you *did* want to use the one I do for you... I wouldn't advise it, cause it will get degraded quite a bit when you turn it into MP3 form....

But I think you will be fine, if you eq yours yourself, and use mine to A/B yours until you get your actual one close to what mine sounds like...

Following me...????:D

bad joke, I guess. The resultant settings I suggested would give you an approximation, possibly resembling silence....:D :D :D :D

ps...you've never seen a "happy face" setting on a graphic equalizer?.... a smooth curve with the mids pushed down and the high and lo ends curving upwards...kinda like 'dis smile--->:)

Come on mix, give me SOME credit. :) I understand the smiley curve on a graphic e.q. but is what your saying apply those settings to the whole mix and that's it? That will bring the vocals more out front so I don't have to remix it?

later.

P.S. I'm thinking about getting my old TEAC reel to reel going again. 8 track.

sorry about {lack of} credit given.

nope...the other settings would yield disastrous results. I was just giving you a hard time.....

you "long-guy-land-ders", need to be kept in line..eh??;)

I've got an old Tascam 38...wanna buy it??

VOX,

You guys must think I'm retarded. When I look at my posts, I see why. I appreciate you offering to do that but I looked at your studio, and if I send my vocal tracks to you, when they come back sounding good, I won't be able to reproduce it:(

I need to know the how man! :) I guess the how is probably practice though. I dont know. I appreciate you trying to help this mentally challenged individual.

Verry funny Mix!

BTW, I sent BLUE BEAR an e-mail to try to get a decent ripping from him. I hope he checks it out. I would like to hear his advice too.

sab....your stuff DOES sound good...so there...and......don't be so silly...just turn up your vocals, and sweep your EQ knobs around and if it sounds any better,,,there ya go...and leave the vocals up too.... Now...let me send you some gtr tracks so you can make them better, cause I'd know how to get them back into my songs...you nerfball!!:D

am I correct you recorded this stuff on a Teac porta-studio. I don't know my teac numbers anymore (788?)...but I was cruising around over at the Tascam threads, and low and behold....

you little )@*^(%++!!!!!

milk that equipment, boy!!

Yeah, a TASCAM 788 portastudio. It's the most expensive piece of musical equipment I own. $899 + 299 for the official burner to go with it. They want $1000 just to refurbish my ole reel to reel. I'm considering taking out a loan to get it going and maybe put the final mixes on it, then burn them.

I dont know though.

Can't be a good thing. This thread will now be left to die.

First of all, killer tune. I REALLY dig the textures. The only thing that sticks out to me is when the drums come back in on the softer parts at 2:30 and again at 4:30 respectivly, they seem a little softer than I would've liked. I wanted them to be just a bit louder. Move to St. Louis and we can form a band.:D

Thanks Trak,

Yeah your right about the drums, I'm thinking this isn't the final mix after all. Thanks for the comments about the textures. It comes from the prozac. :)
