What soundcard to get w/ my Line 6 toneport UX2

I am new to soundcards and computer based recording. I am currently going to purchase the Line 6 toneport UX2. I am running out of Win XP. My buddy has a similar rig and bought a $300 soundcard. His rig sounds great, but do I need to go that expensive for a great soundcard? Any suggestions on what to look for when buying or what to buy?
 
Really?!?!

A built in soundcard? I assumed that origanally but my buddy says he bought an additional $300 soundcard for his PC. Is there any purpose or advantage to doing this? And what have been the reviews on the built in soundcard?
 
I'm sure the 300$ soundcard has more goodies in it,the down side of the tone port is that you cant run more inputs in it.If you are just laying a track at a time it's all good.I just got one myself last week,I like it.Sounds are good just don't expect pro quality or real miked sounds,But it sounds a hellova lot better then i thought it would.

I read some reviews before i got it,only bad things on it was that it has a plastic shell,so don't throw it at your girlfriend.

If ya wanna lay some tracks with some decent tones,get it.Can't beat the price.
