I WAS LOOKING AT 1010LT CARD TO ENABLE ME TO RECORD COMPLETE DRUM KIT INDIVIDUALLY MIC'D , I AM ON A BUDGET THE CARD IS ABOUT 220.00 WHAT IS MY BEST CHOICE/VALUE FOR A MULTI INPUT PREAMP
TO RECORD 8 INS SIMILTAneously...IN ORDER TO GET QUALITY WITHOUT
SPENDING A TON MORE MONEY...

Look for small console like a Allen and Heath mix Wizard or something like that. You're not going to get 8 decent external pre's cheap.

How Does The Terratec Compare To The 1010lt....besides Being A Little Less$$

Forgive My Ignorance But What Type Of Inputs Are On It, I Know The 1010lt Has Rca's.................. Adat Lightpipe??

ADAT (light pipe) is a interface that sends lightpulses instead of electric pulses.

If you have a ADAT card (e.g. Terratec 88D -> around 150 bucks) you "just" need a A/D converter with a ADAT out and you can connect it to the ADAT card. Doing the conversion outboard is normally "cleaner" as there is less electrosmog.

1 ADAT connection equals 8 digital (mono) channels at 24bit x 44,1khz

There are cards w 2 and 3 ADAT ins/out (e.g. RME hdsp9652) ... which gives you 24! channels of digital tracks at a decent price.

the beauty is that this system is expandable and that you can customize it by buying the DA - AD converter that you like or can affort. I understand that the ADAT cards per se dont have any influence on sound qual. as they just shuffle bits around.

do a search for adat - there have been quite some good threads lately

good luck
