I'm looking for the best possible sequencing software for under a ton. I know it can all depend on personal preference but what would be easy to use yet have plenty of useful features? I already use FL Studio to put my backing tracks together and I'm looking for somthing to compliment that.

Thanks in advance! :)

Both Cubase and Cakewalk have starter versions that would do you nicely for less than $100US.

Some people really like N-Tracks, you could go that route.

Traktion comes in at less than $150US and some people are big fans.

Magix Makes a nice program that is in the $50-80us price range.
You get Midi and Audio Plus effects and virtual instruments with it.
Its sort of Magix Samplitude "Lite" realy.

I second the N-Track Statement I own a copy still, Its worth it. I payed like $35 for way back when.

N-Tracks, Audacity

Like everyone else here, I've heard very good things about N-Tracks.

There is a lot of open source, free, recording software available, if your're willing to take that leap. Audacity is one of the most well known.

GarageBand is amazingly easy to use, but not ultra high quality or anything.

Good luck!

Computer Music is a British magazine (you mentioned pounds, vice dollars) that gives free software with each issue. A few months back (May, I think) they put out their CM Studio Software (they actually put it out three or four months in a row) that has a sequencer, several VST plug-ins, drum machines, a bunch of other stuff.

Don't know if it's any good--I'm new at this myself--but what I've seen of it so far looks nice. And, if you are in Britain, it's available locally for probably a tenner.

Here's their website:

although I don't know if it's available for download from there.

COmp Music has been giving that software away for a three of years now....

Its kind of iffy at best, BUT! The Plugins are pretty slick for freebeees!
