OK, here's the deal

I have a friend who needs some simple (and hopfully cheap) software that will, with as little effort as possible, record a boardroom conference.
So just something that will simply record to a stereo track and leave it ready to burn to CD.

Hopefully something that once loaded is simply a single click to start recording, and when finished, again a single click to stop recording and automatically save to file to a specified location.
ie... this has to be fool proof.

Thanks in advance.

LOL, that's probably not as silly as it sounds.
I had thought about that, but last time I tried it (admittedly it was Win98) I could only record in 8bit. Does the XP version record in 16bit?

OK, just found out it only records for 1 minute, so that's not really suitable LOL

No software is foolproof. Here's a link to a free, early edition of Cool Edit Pro software that would work. Not all functions work at the same time, it's limited to 16 bit recording, the user will still have to tell the program where to store the saved file, but it works well for free:

My Soundblaster CD came with the Creative Recorder, and it's as easy to use as a standard cassette recorder or VCR.
