Hi, i'm new to this site but it looked useful so i hope i get some cool answers. i'm based in the uk, and a published songwriter, but i have just changed to Mac, and can't use my existing software. i was using power tracks pro audio. can anyone let me know a really user friendly recording software . i need onboard fx, like compressor gate reverb etc, and able to import & export mp3 mdi etc.
i'm not brilliant with computers and am rapidly approaching the big 60!
i would appreciate any help
regards
Warren

Hey there.
If audacity covers your needs, I'm pretty sure it's free.

Reaper gets a lot of love on these forums and it's not very expensive at all.
If I have my info right, it's cross-platform too, which might be a bonus for you.

You can have a bash at a free trial (which isn't a watered down version) and see what you think before you commit.

Yes, Reaper is cross-platform and works well on a Mac.
(I just moved from an xp laptop to an iMac and haven't looked back..)

It's a great place to start.

i'm a big Logic 9 fan, but is a bit on the expensive side (well worth it imo but that's just me :D)

Reaper is dirt cheap, very usable, and the cross platform thing makes it great if you're moving projects between different computers.

Garageband is actually not that bad, and to say it comes free with Mac's, as a basic and easy to use DAW it's fine, but it does lack some of the editing functions and extra features that Logic and Reaper have
