Ok i've chosen most of the equipment i'm going to buy ( i recently got a bunch of cash come in)

but i want to be able to have everything pluged in so i dont have to keep fidiling around with bloody cords

ok here is the equipment i'm going to purchase but i'm goin insane trying to work out how the hell i would plug it all in & wat size mixer and soundcard i need.

i will be recording only 2 tracks simultaneosly and just want the desk in order to be able to have a central place to control everything other then the software programs (the makie controller will do that for me) i also want it to have 2 good pre's eq with the ability to be able to by pass it if i want too.

A mackie 1604 would probably be enough. A 1404 might even handle what you need. You can also use a Patch Bay to switch different devices to the mixer.

u rekon i could just use a patchbay

seeing as i wont be tracking through the mixer?

i'm only recording 2 channels simultaneosly so i think i mite be just better off with a patch bay, and a 2 in 2 out soundcard.

also is there any patchbays that handle spidif?

You could get away with just a PB but you'd be dependant on the computer to hear anything. I prefer to have a mixer so you don't have to turn on the computer just to jam and it's an extremely useful tool to have.

There are SPDIF switchers and patchbays but I haven't used any to recomend. The Digital Detangler does exactly that but it's probably more than you want to spend. http://www.z-sys.com/pp_detm.html#z8
