HELP!! I need help. I am trying to decide what type of portable multitrack to get. I currently am running a PC/core 2 system, but I need something I can carry. My neighbors finally got pissed and decided either I quit recording at home or move out of my building. I will therefor be recording everything, except some vocals and keys, at my band's rehersal room. I have looked at all the standalone recorders and was set to get an akai dps16, but I recently found out that I would not be able to easily edit my tracks with my PC via a SCSI port as I first thought.
Anyway, I would like to get some ideas about any possible systems that would allow me to: 1. record at least eight tracks at a time 2. allow me to dump those tracks into my pc 3. not sound like shit 4. stay close to my $2,000 budget
One more thing I should mention is that I have used various ADAT's in the past, but I do not think it is possible for me to go that route since my only mixer is a mackie cfx20 live (i.e. not very quiet). But if you have an idea let me know.
