I wonder why Harvey doesn’t always plug his studio with…

Harvey Gerst
Indian Trail Recording
http://www.itrstudio.com

Like John Mayer’s does on all his post…

John Mayes
Mayes Guitars
www.mayesguitars.com

It's not a plug. It is saying who I am. (which is more than we can say for you) And where to reach me if you have an issue or question for me.

And seriously.....It is John MayeS Not John MayeR

Do you think since there are no Mayes guitar users (or very few) on this bbs that's the real reason behind John Maye's posting here... to spam his products?
Hey, don't forget that I sell MoreMe Studio Headphones (http://moreme.info). That's the real reason I post here, to sell more headphones, by having people go to http://moreme.info, which I hype here every chance I get.

Why should people buy MoreMe Studio headphones?

1. They're cheap as shit ($20.)
2. They're loud as hell and hard to break.
3. Cuz I'm broke and I need the money.

Now that's spam!!!

And what's the point of posting my studio information in a board devoted to home recording? Unless you happen to live in Dallas, and feel like driving 50 miles to go to a studio out in the middle of nowhere to record, chances are that you're posting here because you already have a recording setup of your own.

P.S.:
Did I mention that I also sell MoreMe Studio Headphones?

That's funny Harvey. You seem like my kinda guy. Don't take any shit, and still have a sense of humor.

The sad part is that any credibility you had is long gone.
Like who is crazydoc and what cridits does he have... and etc, etc? Sense you hate my opinions, recommendations, and or advise about mics.. you must try to kill my credibility right? Must everyone on this bbs have a gold record or sell products, before posting their opinions, recommendations, and or advise about mics?

And is it now ok to post threads like this one on the mic forum rather than in the cave... and if so, is it ok if I start a few?

Don -

I'm really trying to be helpful here, and although I've seen others try as well with no success, I'll do it anyway.

What sets you up for criticism is your schizophrenic behavior. You post credible advice to a newbie one second and then attack a seasoned professional the next. All this under the banner of "hating misinformation and spam".

Bullshit.

You have an agenda and anyone who has followed your posts for a short period of time can see this. All of us have an agenda to some extent but yours is filled with more vitrol and blatant dishonestly than anyone else I've seen around here.

Deeds speak volumes dude. If you trully want to be regarded as the microphone oracle, I suggest you post some examples of your work and reveal who you are.

My name is Phil Coumans, you can reach me at (801) 546-7030.

Phyl, does everyone have to post their name and examples of their work before posting opinions, recommendations, and or advise about mics on this bbs? After the harassment I've received here on this bbs I'll never post any examples of my work and I won't be mailing any more CD-R's either... If you want to hear some of my work your going to have to ask some of the people on this bbs who I've mailed CD-R's... and I can't remember who they are... and I don't expect any of them to jump in the frying pan in my behalf by speaking up either.

Obviously no one here is required to post their name or an example of their work.

I'm simply pointing out that given your past behavior and steadily declining credibility, you might want to consider it. On the other hand, turning over a new leaf would help too:)

These are only my opinions.

You can review my work at nowhereradio, artist name is Phyl. I guarantee you won' t be impressed!

I like John Mayer too - but I prefer it when he sings properly rather than lisping around that big tongue of his.

As for this John Mayes character ... just another salesman I expect :D:p

Don, I visit a number of forums but as far as I know there isn't a DJL on any of the forums like PSW, musicplayer, gearslutz, recording.org and a couple more.

Do you post on other forums too and if so, under what name?
(you can PM me)

I know there are a number of forumites who are anonymous for a good reason and I (we) have to respect that.

Steve Albini, for example, posts with his company name and his real name.

I still think you're a cool guy who's acting a little weird every now and then.:D

You can find great people all over the forums, become a friend of all those guys and gals, it isn't hard man, you have much to offer, so cut the crap bro.

Peace.

Actually, John Mayes is a well respected luthier making high end acoustic guitars. I've only played one, and only for a few minutes. Nonetheless, I was impressed. I'm not easily impressed with acoustic guitars.

I feel fortunate that John, as well as many other pros, post to this and other newsgroups.

I give up with my superior British humour. Obviously my extreme guile and wit has outfoxed another one of you .... or you just don't dig sarcasm.

I hope I'm as cool as Han or Harvey when I reach their ages (in that order).

Ah, good. Another Brit to come and appreciate my hilarity. Uh, I think he said before he's in his late 50s, but you can never be sure with these Baby Boomers ... they all think they're still my age :)

You know, I'm really glad that DJL has given us his solemn word that he'll never post any examples of his work in the Mixing Clinic.

Phew! What a relief.

I said I envy you a while ago my young friend, I'm from 1943.

You have a lot of good years ahead of you, don't waste any of them.

I don't have any cridits at all, and very few if any credits either. I am not a recording professional. When I post an opinion (or an asshole - we've all got both), I try to give a reason I have that opinion, that is based on some experiential information. If I don't have experience, I either try not to post or at least note in the post that "I have read" or "I have heard" about whatever I am discussing.
I have posted clips of recordings in the past, piss poor as they are, when appropriate to illustrate a point under discussion.

I don't post under my real name for several reasons: one is to avoid invasion of privacy issues like spam and other unsolicited communications - I get enough of that shit in my non-internet life. Another is that my professional life is entirely unrelated to music and recording, and I don't want the two (avocation and vocation) intermingled.

DJ, to get credibility you need to post information that you can back up by facts or experience, or that would make sense to a person of average intelligence and knowledge. When you say things like "that mic sucks eggs" without saying what characteristics of that mic make it suck eggs, or that Alan Hyatt's employees are the ones that have voted in this poll, without any facts to back it up, then that detracts from your credibility.

Since you seem to want to appear knowledgeable about studio recording, you need to give opinions that are backed by reason and fact. Posting examples of your engineered recordings would be one way to do that.

My name is Matt Pollock (clever nic, isn't it). I used to have a web link enabled with samples of my work until the nice people at *V*M*G* from the marketing forum got my e-mail address and started sending me threatening e-mail. The only samples of my work now are posted here: http://www.roysnyder.com. Go to the downloads page. I co-wrote the first song, and produced and played on all three. Feel free to comment. Bear in mind that these are on 64 bit MP3's, so be gentle. I will soon be unveiling my new web presence at doublewidemusic.com. Feel free to google me if you like.

Your turn, Don.
